We got ourselves a square reader, so you don’t *have* to have cash on the farm if you come out Sunday. We can take your plastic! This is very exiting for us because it means we can get paid, and we aren’t just going to be poor kitchen bitches forever. Wait…We probably still will be.

Here’s a sneak peak of our photo shoot last week. Now that the clouds are here, it’s making me extra glad we did that when we had the whim.
So, in the last couple of days we put a shiny new coat of paint on the truck.
It’s the same color it was, just shinier.
We drank a lot of beer in the process.
We met with someone who runs a commercial kitchen that would enable us to make 100 jars of pickles. AT A TIME. This is revolutionary folks. Truly.
Also, we took some glamour shots of us and the truck…or maybe they’ll just be our new album cover, the band is called “Fatty Applecakes.” (inspired by the totally delicious apple fritters Venessa made for James and Copper’s Oktoberfest bebe shower. Yeah, James is having a baby, which is why we need to get this truck MOVING. )
And we got a real life logo! After many hours of deliberation, sketching on parchment paper, and reliving horrible life drawing experiences, we’ve finally come up with something we both love. It’s in the hands of a competent graphic designer who is cleaning it up and making it presentable at this very moment.
It’s been a long long time between updates and we know, that’s a problem. We’ll try to be nicer to you all who are dying to know dirty details, because the truth is, we love you and we want you to be happy!
Summer is just about at an end, and we’re looking forward to being squashed into the back of the truck cooking up some good hearty food for everyone. In the meantime, we still have a couple of dinners left, which is good news for us—and you if you are lucky enough to have a seat at the table, since they are all full up!
We’re getting really excited that fall is finally here. It means soups and squashes and braises and stews and risottos. We’re definitely ready, and this weekend’s menu reflects that big time:
- a selection of homemade pickles, as always
- corn chowder with chipotle cream
- cod and potato cakes on baby greens
- chocolate braised short ribs with butternut squash and green chiles
- buttermilk skillet cake with bourbon maple stonefruit compote
It looks like this is going to wrap us up until the truck actually gets rolling, as we have a few privately booked dates coming up, and a preview/debut with Oxbow farms scheduled in October that we’re super excited about. Hopefully we have a mostly ready truck by then!
This weeks dinner is sold out, even a couple extra seats getting squeezed in there…somehow.

cheesy crackers (Gluten free this week!) with stone fruit chutney
Corn chowder with fresh basil
Grilled Caesar Salad with tomatoes and parmesan crisps
Whole grilled trout w/ pan fried mashed potatoes
Eton Mess with raspberries and peaches
